Product & safety
What makes Safely Secured products anti-theft?
Safely Secured leads, collars and harnesses use reinforced construction, including stainless-steel cable in applicable products, to make opportunistic cutting or removal more difficult. They are a deterrent only, not a guarantee against theft or harm.
Are locks included with the lead?
The Safely Secured anti-theft leash includes two combination locks. Please check the relevant product page for the current contents of other products and bundles.
How do I change my lock combination?
Use our lock help and reset guide, which includes the original demonstration video and step-by-step cards.
What if I lose my collar key?
Please contact the Essential Dog team with your order details. We will advise the available support options for your product.
Are the products waterproof?
They are water resistant rather than waterproof. Clean with a sponge and mild soapy water; do not machine wash unless the relevant product instructions say otherwise.
Can I leave my dog unattended with a Safely Secured product?
Use your judgement and take reasonable precautions. The product cannot prevent every theft or safety risk. Consider your dog’s behaviour, including chewing, and supervise first to decide whether use is appropriate. If you are unsure, do not leave your dog unattended.
Fitting & care
How do I choose the right collar, harness or belt size?
Use the Safely Secured Size Guide and measure your dog or waist rather than selecting by breed or weight alone.
I need help choosing a size. What should I do?
Please contact us with your dog’s measurements, breed, age and the product you are considering.
I have arthritis or limited hand strength. Can I use the locks?
The number dials on standard locks can be small. If you are concerned, please contact us before ordering so we can help you choose the most suitable option.
